What Is the Sales Animal Assessment?

The Sales Animal Assessment is a free, scenario-based personality test designed for sales professionals. In less than 10 minutes you answer 20 real-world situational questions — no trick questions, no right or wrong answers — and receive a detailed report revealing your unique sales archetype, your top behavioral strengths, and personalised development recommendations.

The assessment is built on five core behavioral pillars that drive sales performance. Each pillar contains four measurable traits, giving you a detailed picture of how you naturally operate in sales environments.

Who Is It For?

The assessment is ideal for:

  • Sales reps who want to understand their natural selling style and where to focus their growth
  • Sales managers and coaches who want objective behavioral data to tailor coaching conversations
  • Hiring teams who want insight into a candidate's behavioral fit for a sales role
  • Business owners building or scaling a sales team and looking for a common language around performance

The Five Assessment Pillars

1. Core Sales Skills

The foundational competencies every effective salesperson needs. This pillar measures Curiosity, Communication, Business Acumen, and Problem-Solving — the building blocks of consultative selling.

2. Mental Toughness & Drive

Sales is a high-rejection, high-pressure environment. This pillar assesses Persistence, Resilience, Competitive Drive, and Figure It Out — the mindset traits that separate consistent performers from those who burn out.

3. Self-Management

Top producers hold themselves to a high standard without being told to. This pillar looks at Accountability, Self-Discipline, Adaptability, and Integrity — the traits that make a salesperson reliable and trustworthy long-term.

4. Interpersonal Intelligence

Selling is fundamentally a human skill. This pillar evaluates Coach-ability, Emotional Intelligence, Cultural Fit, and Active Listening — the social and relational abilities that build lasting client relationships.

5. Sales Artistry

Great salespeople are also great storytellers. This pillar captures Humor, Storytelling, Product Knowledge, and Passion — the creative qualities that make a sales pitch memorable and compelling.

How the Scoring Works

Each of the 20 questions presents a realistic scenario — a situation you might encounter in daily life or at work — along with four possible responses. Your job is to rank all four responses from most likely (4) to least likely (1) based on how you would genuinely react. There are no correct answers; the assessment is looking for authentic behavioral patterns, not textbook responses.

Points are allocated as follows: your top-ranked response earns 4 points, second choice earns 3 points, third earns 2 points, and least likely earns 1 point. Each response is linked to one of the 20 behavioral traits across the five pillars, so your rankings accumulate into a trait-by-trait score profile.

Your profile is then matched against the 32 Sales Animal archetypes — each one a distinct combination of high and low trait patterns — to identify which archetype best describes how you naturally operate in sales situations.
